Sydney Startups Power Group (beta)

Sydney Startup Power Group (SSPG) is an exclusive community of startup entrepreneurs and C-level business leaders committed to supporting one another in scaling their ventures. Communication within the group is conducted primarily through a private WhatsApp group.

Goals

The primary goal of SSPG is to foster collaboration by sharing ideas, overcoming business challenges, and generating valuable business opportunities for members.

Membership

SSPG membership is currently limited to 100 members during its beta stage. Membership is free but requires:

  • A direct introduction by an existing member.
  • Approval by at least 90% of existing members through a voting process.
  • A member can introduce a new member to the group only if they have known them personally for a significant period and have met them in person face-to-face.

To qualify for membership, individuals must:

  • Have experience as a co-founder of at least one technology-related startup.
  • Reside in New South Wales (NSW).
  • Possess any relevant skill set, whether technical or non-technical.

Exceptions: Expats who previously lived in NSW and relocated to operate an NSW-origin company may also qualify for membership.

Each member will be listed on the SSPG Membership Page, which includes:

  • Their name, business details, and contact information.
  • A brief summary of what they are looking for (e.g., investment, partnerships, hiring, business growth).
  • A link to their business website or LinkedIn profile.

Rules

To maintain a high-quality and valuable experience for all members, the following rules apply:

1. Privacy & Confidentiality

  • All group communication is strictly private and confidential. Sharing messages, discussions, or member details outside the group is not permitted.

2. Engagement & Activity

  • Members must engage in discussions at least once a month.
  • Inactive members will be removed to make space for new prospects.

3. Self-Promotion & Spam

  • Members may share their business updates, events, or opportunities only if they are relevant and valuable to the group.
  • Excessive self-promotion, unsolicited pitches, or irrelevant advertising is not allowed.
  • Members should focus on adding value through knowledge sharing, problem-solving, and meaningful contributions.

4. Professionalism & Respect

  • All discussions should be professional and constructive.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or any form of disrespectful behaviour will result in removal from the group.
